Self-ish isn’t Selfish!

December 19, 2008

For many VAs, working at home does not mean sitting back in your jammies, watching Oprah and eating BonBons. It means balancing your VA Business with housework and family time. Time for you often gets forgotten.

What happens, though, when you put everyone and everything else first and you last? Well, what happens to your car when you don’t fill it with gas, get the oil changed and new tires when the old ones wear out? You get the picture, I’m sure!

Taking care of you is even more important at this time of year. From the chaotic demands of the Holidays to the increase in colds and flu, there are even more ways to get run down. So set some time aside for yourself – have an Egg Nog Latte with a girlfriend, get a massage or buy yourself something wonderfully extravagant when you are shopping for everyone else. Invest in yourself and enjoy the dividends!

Corny Christmas Carols!

December 12, 2008

I love Christmas Carols, especially the traditional, fun ones like “Rudolf The Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty The Snowman”. They bring back some really fun memories of my childhood. But this year, I added a new memory of caroling that has nothing to do with my childhood.

My son Matthew and I were driving home from school the other day and I had Christmas music on. Suddenly Matthew started singing at the top of his lungs, and very off key! Of course, I had to join in and I sounded even worse! We sang corny Christmas Carols all the way home – well we sort of sang while we were laughing hysterically.

We had so much fun but it did make me grateful that I don’t have to sing for my supper!

What is your favorite childhood music memory?

Ok, I know I bragged on my kids in Fun Friday but I had to do it again, now that they are famous! :)

Those little bundles of joy!

October 10, 2008

For many of us, being a VA is how we also stay home with our kids – so let’s show off our little bundles of joy! (yes, Angel, we want to see your dogs! :) )

My two little bundles are now 17 and 16 years old but they are still my babies. Somehow I gave birth to distance runners (very recessive genes!).

Elisabeth runs for her high school’s Cross Country and Track teams and was the leage Junior Varsity Champion in the 1600m and 3200m races her Freshman year. She will graduate this year!

Matthew is a sophomore and runs for our local Special Olympics team as well as for his high school’s Track and Cross Country teams. He loves to run and says its “Awesome!”
